CLAS works closely with European Church umbrella bodies based in Brussels to ensure that its voice is heard at the European level and that it is kept informed by sister organisations of developments relevant to its members.

CLAS’s European contacts are:

    • The Conference of European Churches (CEC)

CEC is a fellowship of 126 Orthodox, Protestant, Anglican and Old Catholic Churches along with 43 associated organisations from all countries on the European continent.

    • The Commission of the Catholic Bishops’ Conferences of the European Community (COMECE)

COMECE is made up of 24 bishops delegated by the Catholic Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union.

CLAS also work closely with UK institutions dealing with Europe, such as the Church of England’s representative to the EU based at the Pro-Cathedral in Brussels and the House of Bishops’ Europe Panel, which acts primarily as a point of reference for items affecting the Church of England’s relations with Europe and the European Union institutions that arise in the House of Bishops and the General Synod.
